At SPIE Photonics West 2024 our Head of Research, Alfred Newman, was invited to speak at the Holography Technical Event.
During his talk he gave a brief introduction to computer-generated holography (CGH) and how to compute your first hologram, before discussing and challenging the common myths associated with the technology:
- CGH requires an implausible level of compute
- Holography implies phase-only modulation
- Holography implies laser illumination
- 3D can’t work with a waveguide.
